Lifelong Learning – practically-oriented, promoting inclusion and innovation

New solutions should be found which compensate the shortage of good skilled staff due to nowadays existing socio-economic, demographic and technological conditions and raised problems which Europe should take into account like shrinking society, globalisation influences, rules and restrictions of labour market. Lifelong learning is an important premise for all levels of society and all age groups to take part in working life and to develop stable work biographies which fit to today’s socio-economic and technological developments and could lead to stabilisation of employment.

Flexible, accessible, lifelong learning strategies which make use of suitable technologies are considered in scientific discussions as encouraging means for contributing to the achievement of competencies by individuals and organizations, thereby helping them to cope with nowadays requirements.

Taking these aspects into consideration, the Lifelong Learning study group plans for the next three years to:

A) Collection of information and contribution to the development of lifelong learning strategies and cooperation which promote inclusion and digital innovation in education

  • How are lifelong learning strategies promoting inclusion and innovation characterised?
  • Which are the steps for the development of such strategies and the conditions for their success?
  • Which roles play virtual Communities of Practice and Networks in this context?
  • How could digital technologies support application-oriented lifelong learning strategies?

B) Digital solutions in education and training and for the transfer of knowledge and innovation

  • Which digital solutions exist to provide flexible (open) learning environments?
  • How could digital technologies support different learning concepts and learning groups?
  • Which social media support social innovation in the field of education?
  • How do digital developments influence the processes of knowledge- and innovation transfer?

The group would like to

1) Develop projects aimed at the implementation of lifelong learning strategies and vocational educational approaches which

  • support social equity and inclusion,
  • advocate diversity,
  • utilize software applications and knowledge-intensive procedures not only for the daily work but also to achieve new staff competencies, to design and use future working environments and learning forms,
  • support both individuals and company innovation.

2) Initiate cooperation for knowledge transfer between research and economic practice
